They say that if you can't keep your emotions in check, you can't become a pro player.
Wei Shengxu is a famous exception.
In her debut match, Ye Qiu made her cry in the arena, but she defeated One Autumn Leaf with 34 HP remaining, holding off one opponent after another and successfully defending the ring.
In her first year, she was constantly targeted as a weak link. She was once provoked into tears four times in a single week. Her performance fluctuated like a fan's heart rate while watching a match, but her win rate stayed so steady you'd think she'd summoned a god to possess her.
In her third year, she still had no emotional control whatsoever. She was just as easy to set off, discourage, and enrage, just as quick to devour pressure, targeted attacks, bad reviews, and taunts, and just as implacably hostile toward Ye Qiu.
It's Ye Qiu's fault for always picking on this pressure cooker. If anyone made a ranking of the people who'd made Wei Shengxu cry, even Huang Shaotian couldn't compete with Ye Qiu at the top.
Then Wei Shengxu announced the happy news: I've finally won over Master Ye! I've got my man!
Everyone: Isn't that a pretty big risk for a prank?
Wei Shengxu, shocked: Wait, nobody knows? I've been openly in love with him for three years!
Ye Qiu pops up: Hasn't he been pursuing me all along?
Ye Qiu: This was so obvious, and nobody noticed for three years? Playing Glory must ruin your eyesight. Everyone, take good care of your eyes.
Everyone: ...Clearly, someone else needs their eyesight checked.
Once the news got out, the topic shot up the trending charts: Can playing competitive games give you Stockholm syndrome?
Ye Xiu: ...
Ye Xiu: I didn't torture you badly enough for you to use that term, did I?
Wei Shengxu: Of course not! The game is the game, and outside the game is outside the game. Besides, you're so wonderful. Falling in love with you at first sight and then loving you more over time is only natural!
Ye Xiu: That's enough flattery. Don't get worked up, don't reply to anyone. Come play an arena match with me and calm down.
Wei Shengxu: ...
Wei Shengxu: Babe, can you comfort your boyfriend another way? Isn't that a little too mean to me?
But here's what no one else knows:
For someone with a heart that swings wildly with every emotion, loving Ye Xiu is the one thing that has never made Wei Shengxu feel discouraged, anxious, heartbroken, or brought her to tears.
For someone with a steady heart and a cool head, loving Wei Shengxu is something Ye Xiu spent a while worrying over, wondering what to do about it.
[Reader's note]
The protagonist's emotions swing wildly. She's sensitive and easily reduced to tears, but when she reaches her breaking point, she explodes, and her inspiration and combat power both surge.
There will be match scenes, but the author can't form a clear picture of how Glory is played, and is too forgetful to keep track of the settings, so they'll first spend some time reading wuxia novels and playing similar games to study. But don't expect too much from the results. I'm probably, maybe, possibly, more or less a block of rotten wood.
Romance is 1v1, focused on the two leads, with no angsty romance or other one-sided crushes.
I'll add the other reader notes after I start posting.
I revised the blurb, but it's still so long...
Theme: Put care into your life and relationships, and make yourself happy.
