Mr. Lian, Are You Looking at Houses?

Zuo Ni is twenty-five and works as a real estate agent. After two years in the business, she has long since learned to tailor her approach to whoever she is dealing with. One day, she went to show a property in thirty-five-degree heat, running around until she was drenched in sweat. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't turn the key in the front door.

A hand reached over from beside her, long-fingered and clean. With a gentle twist, the door opened.

The man said, "My name is Lian Zheng."

Later, Zuo Ni learned all sorts of things about him. He was thirty-three, ran a company, lived in the eastern part of the city, and had never married. He was like a glass of water at just the right temperature, neither too hot nor too cold. He always left himself room to maneuver when he spoke. He bought the lake-view apartment on the ninth floor. He said he'd plant jasmine on the balcony and leave her a desk in the study. He arranged everything to perfection, except that he never talked about them being together.

Zuo Ni had her doubts. The eight-year age gap, their different social standing, the way others looked at them... But whenever she thought of backing away, Lian Zheng would draw her back in the most ordinary way.

She was the young woman he called unhurriedly, and the person he was willing to wait for, patiently, for the rest of his life. From property viewings to confiding in each other, from Mr. Lian to Lian Zheng, Zuo Ni realized that the hurdles she'd thought she could never overcome were all passable, as long as he held her hand.

This is a story about taking your time when you fall in love.

He was eight years older, and what he could offer was patience.

She had nothing to her name, but what she could offer was a heart full of courage.

They differed in age, status, and experience.

But they had a whole lifetime to make up the difference.
