His Little Bird

She and Mo Qingyan were together for three years.

He gave her the finest apartment and the most expensive jewelry. When he was in a good mood, he would kiss her forehead afterward and say, “Good girl.”

She never dared ask when he would marry her.

One ordinary afternoon, he said, “Shengsheng, my family is arranging an engagement for me.”

That very night, she packed her bags and vanished without a trace.

Later, she heard that Mr. Mo, whose every stomp could make the financial world tremble, had searched half of China like a madman.

Later still, he found her in the shabby rental room she called home.

The man, so refined to his very core, asked her with reddened eyes:

“He Yasheng, I called off the engagement. Could you... take me back?”

At first, she's his caged songbird. Later, he's her stray dog.
