[Confessions] I entered into a contract marriage with my nemesis
OP: This is an internal work forum. It shouldn't count as leaking secrets if I say a few things here, right?
I seriously can't take it anymore! How can I be this unlucky?!
After graduating from college, I finally found a job, only to get tricked by a shady recruitment ad and somehow end up at headquarters, becoming an agent even though I studied fine arts. And my very first assignment is to pretend to be married to my nemesis, the one I've hated since childhood!
I thought it wouldn't be a problem if he was away on missions all the time and I stayed home by myself. Who knew that as soon as I accepted the job, he'd get a long break between missions? Now we're at home together all day, constantly running into each other. Every morning, the first thing I see when I open my eyes is him. It feels like I'm visiting a grave every single day.
If that were all, I could put up with it. Work is never perfect, and the adult world doesn't make things easy. Sob.
But the problem is, that bastard is higher-ranking than me, so he gets to lead the mission and throw his authority around! I've been living at his place for days, and he still barely gives me the time of day! He hardly talks to me from morning till night. How am I supposed to play a loving married couple for the mission and deal with the neighbors?
I really don't want to see him again. Sniffle. But I can't change jobs either. Sob. Life is so hard. I really can't go on like this.
1L: Huh? If you hate him so much, why did you agree to the assignment?
2L: Yeah, if you don't like it, you can just turn it down. Headquarters should let you choose when it comes to missions where you have to pretend to be a couple, right?
OP: I had no choice. I didn't want to do it either, but headquarters and he offered way too much. I really couldn't say no.
3L: ? Now I'm curious. How much did they offer for you to put your differences aside?
4L: Curious too.
5L: You shouldn't sell your soul and dignity for any amount of money!
OP: The compensation is roughly like this.
What headquarters gives me: my original salary grade + six types of insurance and two housing funds + a luxury villa to live in + work from home, with time off whenever I want + full holiday benefits + both cats and dogs, plus some other odds and ends.
What my nemesis gives me: 50,000 in pocket money every month + holiday bonuses for pretending to show our love (starting at 1,314, with that as the minimum) + reimbursement for daily expenses as long as I have receipts + I live alone for most of the time and don't have to see him.
8L: Wait, what? How much?
9L: Is this really your enemy? That's my godfather!
10L: This can't be right! What kind of nemesis gives you that much? Is he really your nemesis? Are you two actually doing something steamy behind our backs while pretending to be enemies?
11L: OP! Whether he's your husband or your nemesis, you know the truth in your heart!
A forum-style story idea that came to me in a flash.
I'll post it once I've finished writing it!
