A County Princess's Everyday Struggle in the Great Song

A fierce, sharp-tongued county princess × a frail, pedantic new jinshi graduate

There were county princesses of the Song imperial clan everywhere. Wealthy merchants liked to marry down-on-their-luck county princesses to raise their families' status. One merchant family even married thirty county princesses at once to pair with the men of their clan.

Zhao Zhao transmigrated into the body of a down-on-her-luck county princess.

Her birth father had died young, and her stepmother wanted to sell her for five thousand strings of cash to a sixty-year-old merchant as his second wife.

Zhao Zhao wasn't the sort to let others push her around. She'd been bold enough to flip tables since childhood, and she could trade insults with her relatives all day, with an impressive record to show for it. She knew better than anyone how important it was to make a scene. So she ran away before the wedding and filed a complaint with the prefectural authorities. The local officials didn't dare delay and sent a report to the emperor.

The emperor and empress dowager stood up for Zhao Zhao, bestowed wealth on her, and found her a husband.

He was a handsome young man who had just passed the palace examination. Zhao Zhao couldn't refuse the imperial decree, but she thought it would do. She could make a good life for herself either way.
