You're a Villain Too

Lin Shuo is an elder in a cultivation sect. He is malicious and selfish, jealous and greedy.

Today, he can’t stand a poor, miserable outer sect disciple. Tomorrow, he’ll hate some heaven-blessed prodigy with a good family and handsome looks. Whether they’re at fault or not, he’s always looking for trouble with them.

Elder Lin reflects on himself three times every day: Why wasn’t it me? What makes him worthy? Should I stir up some trouble?

Wen Ce is a vice sect leader. He is a hypocrite, honey-tongued and treacherous.

He loves to package himself as a refined gentleman, noble and unsullied, but behind the scenes he has sabotaged countless people. Those fools still end up thanking him.

Vice Sect Leader Wen also reflects on himself three times every day: Did I get my share of the benefits? Did I earn a good reputation? Did it feel good?

The two of them were both wicked in their own ways and kept out of each other’s business, until an ancient book fell from the sky.

Lin Shuo got the second half, which described in detail how Wen Ce would be ground to dust by a certain disciple. Lin Shuo was shocked, then took delight in his misfortune.

Wen Ce got the first half, which recorded in detail how Lin Shuo would be tortured to death by a certain disciple. Wen Ce was suspicious, then took delight in his misfortune.

It wasn’t until a twist of fate brought the two books together that things changed.

Lin Shuo and Wen Ce exchanged a glance. As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. They had to take down this common enemy.

Then again, taking each other down would be easy enough while they were at it.
