Jiang Lai is a star NPC who wanders through all kinds of game instances. His true form is a ghost doll, and his cute, cuddly appearance can easily put players at ease.
The instances are full of hidden dangers. The slightest mistake can get players ripped apart by lurking ghosts and turned into fodder for the instance.
Jiang Lai tilts his head and trots after the players on his short, plush limbs, reaching out with a soft little voice. "Hug me."
Whenever that happens, every player instantly tenses up.
Because it means that person must be nearby, too.

In the long, shadowy corridors of the Blood Moon Castle, a small figure wobbles along behind the crowd. Jiang Lai gazes at the players, covered in blood, and reaches out with a smile. "Pet me."
The players' throats tighten. From the corner of an eye, they spot the most powerful Boss in the instance.
No one has time to pay attention to Jiang Lai, who is still asking for cuddles. In an instant, everyone scatters.
Jiang Lai hurries after them, his voice turning impatient. "Cuddles! Pet me! Hug me!"
The players are on the verge of a breakdown and shout at him to stop.
The next moment, the palm-sized doll suddenly floats in midair. Its porcelain-white fabric splits open from the center, and a boy with black hair and red eyes climbs out.
Jiang Lai's expression is cold as he raises a hand and crushes the player's head.
Run into Cheng Yanbing, and you die.
Refuse to comfort Jiang Lai, and you die, too.
The players wail inwardly: You two could just team up and kill us yourselves!

Later, after countless bloody battles, the surviving players figure out a clever way to stay alive.
If they encounter Jiang Lai in an instance, they immediately take him to his partner.
And so, the following scene becomes a familiar sight:
Cheng Yanbing approaches with a cold expression, raising a hand to finish off the player before him.
At the last possible moment, the player quickly holds the ghost doll Jiang Lai up in front of them.
In his doll form, Jiang Lai tilts his head and familiarly reaches out to Cheng Yanbing. "Kiss me."
Cheng Yanbing lowers his eyes, the corner of his mouth lifting slightly. He picks the doll up by the back of its neck, sets it on his shoulder, and turns to leave.
Much later, a player happens to pass by a secret room.
They catch a glimpse of the murderous god who terrifies every player, leaning down to soothe a boy on the verge of losing control with a kiss.
"Want another kiss?"
