The Last Victim

P.S. This is the last book in a suspense crime-investigation series. I haven't planned the details yet, but it might follow Su Li, the heroine of the previous book, The Last Killer, as she investigates cases as a detective in Thailand.

Synopsis: She was woken by the sound of a cat screaming in the attic. Terrified, she called the police, then tiptoed to the door to peer through the peephole.

An eye was staring at her from the other side.

She nearly died of fright. Thankfully, the owner of the eye stepped back. He was a very handsome police officer.

He asked her what had happened.

Su Li took on a case and got involved in a murder investigation as a detective. As soon as she arrived at the scene, she saw the coroner carefully examining the victim's belly.

"Was the victim pregnant?"

"That can't be right. She lived alone, and the other tenants said she wasn't pregnant. She also looked very thin on the security footage. So what's with the belly...?"

"Bloating after death can't happen this quickly, either."

Su Li put on gloves, undid the dead woman's bloodstained clothes, and saw stitches beneath the skin of her belly. She pressed lightly.

A sharp, wet cat's paw pushed through the split, as if trying to claw its way out of her stomach.

Premise: Life is worth striving for.
