Bad Kid [Prince of Tennis]

He was the most hated person in the world.

He was the child brought into the family by the woman who married her father. Mean, rude... simply the worst person in the world. No one would ever want to be his older sister, or so Sakurai Hana thought.

She would become the best-behaved child in the family...

The child their parents loved most.

"Bro." Sakurai suddenly called out, the syllables slurred but still clear. When the last sound left her lips, she seemed to let go of something at last, her voice filled with relief. Akutsu stopped in his tracks.

He was carrying both their schoolbags. Perhaps after all this time spent at odds, their softened relationship had finally broken through the wall they had built over the years, allowing her to say that word.

He looked at her, and she looked up at him. They met each other's eyes, and Sakurai Hana said, "Since you don't want to call me your big sister, I'll call you my big brother."

"Big Brother Jin."

It was strange, bizarre... Silence shrouded the night as they stared at each other for a long time. His silver eyes were utterly still, like the dead lake that night. He was the first to look away, and with a step he easily passed Sakurai.

All she could hear was a soft scoff.
