[Honkai: Star Rail] A Ranger Doesn't Die When Killed

Also known as: A Hundred Ways to Let a Wandering Hero Grow Old

Bu Sutu first met Yu Xing at a crime scene.

Only... the other person wasn't a suspect, a police officer, or a witness.

He was the victim.

"Hello, could you help me report a crime? He accidentally cut my windpipe, so my voice is a little breathy right now..."

The man held his head, wearing a slightly helpless smile, if you didn't count the fact that his neck and head were barely attached, or the blood covering most of his face and his entire shirt.

Then Bu Sutu realized this seemed to be part of the man's daily routine.

By the time he'd finally gotten used to the man dying every now and then, he went to visit him one day and found his body cold.

He stood there for a long time, but the man never woke up again.

He decided to investigate the truth. Just then, he received a job offer. The assignment sounded unremarkable, but the reward made it impossible to look away.

"I know the truth about Yu Xing's death."

The client was Xu Zhao.

Tips:

0. The second of Tuya's oppressive masterpieces. It's also a short story, and will probably be even shorter.

1. The protagonist is a former wandering hero and current Mournful Actor. The story contains extensive fictional history built on parts of official history. There are many original elements, so please don't read if that bothers you.

2. There is angst, and it's real angst, but the story is ultimately a happy ending.

3. The plot knowledge cutoff is 4.3. I expect to start at least after the Thousand Star City arc. (I feel like official history is going to stab me in the back, so let me squirm a little first.)
