Searching for Stars [A Chinese Ghost Story]

My name is Ying Xing, and I've transmigrated into a game.

Life in the game is pretty relaxing. I play with cats and go fishing, until I fish a man out of the river. And he's badly wounded, to boot.

That's terrifying.

I go straight for the finishing blow, but I fail to kill him, and now he's clinging to me.

That's even more terrifying! This is clearly the beginning of a tragic romance.

I'm done fishing. I'll cultivate the heartless path instead. There's no way I'm getting caught in a doomed romance.

I'm sorry. I failed to master the heartless path, and this is now my third life in love with him.

Short story, first-person POV

I threw out the game's setting anyway.

Theme: There's no such thing as fate. It's all just human will, forced upon the world.
