1

Shuanglian was the most unremarkable clam spirit in the Eastern Sea. One day, after taking human form, she met a man on the road who claimed to be the Matchmaker.

The Matchmaker told her that her destined partner was at the Xiqi camp. He was pure-hearted, kind, skilled in martial arts, and, most importantly, handsome. Whatever she told him, he would believe.

He was a little put off by her now, but in the future he would love her deeply and be unable to live without her.

All right, then. The clam spirit packed her things and set off for the Xiqi camp to find her husband.

The most handsome person there, she saw, was Nezha, the vanguard riding the Wind-and-Fire Wheels!

He was hot-tempered, cautious and ruthless, mischievous, and proud, but the Matchmaker said Nezha would love her deeply.

Though the clam spirit was afraid, she steeled herself and approached him.

As it turned out, the Matchmaker hadn't been wrong at all.

She warmed the heart of a god of slaughter. The handsome young man clung to her and wouldn't leave her side, wishing he could hold on to her day and night.

Shuanglian found it strange. "The Matchmaker said we were destined for each other, and that we'd never be apart for the rest of our lives."

"Mm-hmm." Nezha hugged her even tighter, eyes closed, burying his face in the crook of her neck as he murmured, "We'll never be apart, not for our whole lives."

3

When the Matchmaker came to see Shuanglian again, he cried out in alarm.

He'd found the wrong person! Nezha was an incarnation of the lotus flower, without a soul or spirit. How could he have a destined match?

How could this clam spirit care about nothing but a pretty face?

4

Nezha was an incarnation of the lotus flower, without a soul, a spirit, or reincarnation.

His life was forever.

Then a clam spirit suddenly came running up, saying she wanted to be with him forever.

Nezha tilted his head curiously. "Oh?"
