A Romance Game with Reversed Factions, but It Syncs with Reality

Nanaumi Machi, seventeen, is an ordinary high school student who transferred from Britain back to Teitan High School in Beika.

But no one knows she returned to Japan to investigate the reason her parents died.

She thought that was her biggest secret.

Until she was pulled into a surreal romance game.

The good news: the game and its characters are based on reality, so she can use the game to continue investigating the truth.

The bad news: um... her identity has been turned into that of an organization member. Does that count as bad news?

Luckily, it's only a game. She can return to reality once she reaches the next save point.

And so she went back and forth between the game and reality.

Then one day, she witnessed the scene of a murder in reality, committed by a certain silver-haired assassin.

This can't be right! She stared at the bloodthirsty, icy man who sent chills down her spine. Wasn't the game's "Gin" a righteous undercover investigator in the organization? Why did the real one seem to have... a completely different vibe?

Then, another day, at a security detail handled by the Public Security Bureau, she spotted a man who looked suspiciously like someone with blond hair and dark skin.

This can't be right either! Was this upright, suit-wearing man really the same ruthless, unscrupulous organization member "Bourbon" she knew from the game?

All right, all right, she reassured herself again. It's only a game. Even if it's drastically different from reality, that's still possible...

Until one day, her kind and righteous high school classmate cornered her.

"Lately, I've been having this dream off and on.

"In the dream, I seem to be the heir to an evil organization's boss."

Nanaumi Machi: "...Well, you know what they say: everything in dreams is the opposite of reality."

"Not at all," said the Holmes of the Heisei era with a bright smile. "I also seem to like you in the dream."

...No big deal, she reassured herself once more. Maybe the characters had picked up some of one another's memories. Perhaps it was just an isolated case.

Her good-natured self-reassurance completely fell apart when she saw a handsome man with catlike eyes and short stubble in reality.

"As you can see, I am the real deal: Morofushi Hiromitsu."

What do you mean, someone who was supposed to die in the line of duty in reality came back to life because she completed his route in the game???

Reader's Guide:

1. The heroine is still my beloved type: a stunningly charming girl, with all the melodramatic love-triangle chaos you could want.

2. It features an alignment reversal trope. The real world stays unchanged, but characters in the game may have their alignments reversed.

3. There are more male love interests than the ones mentioned in the blurb. There are multiple endings, and everyone gets a happy ending.

4. Some details in both the real-world and game sections have been changed for this story.

Theme: Love is the greatest miracle humanity has ever created.
