The year Bai Qin turned twenty-five, she became a teaching assistant at her alma mater, Chejiang University.

Raised in an orphanage, she had worked her way up with scholarships and grants, and with a stubborn refusal to give up.

While conducting a plant survey in Lianshan, she slipped and fell down a slope. She lifted her mud-covered face and saw Ming Yingzhao, whom she hadn't seen in three years.

The woman stood in the mountain mist, her black coat darkened by the fine rain. Her beautiful, pale face looked more mature than she remembered, and more distant.

Ming Yingzhao looked down at her. "Still so good at getting yourself hurt."

Bai Qin froze.

She thought it was just a chance coincidence brought about by fate.

Only later did she learn that Ming Yingzhao had seen her research application long ago, had already taken on the mountain resort project that she had no need to handle personally, and had been waiting in the mist at Lianshan all along.

It wasn't a coincidence. It was a reunion she'd been waiting three years for.

"Bai Qin, I've been waiting for this reason for many years."

Could love be so ancient it longs to die?

How does the god of the heart imagine spring,

and begin a practice falling behind amid her unrest?

I've seen it, in the eyes of the one I love as they look at me:

The universe is only just beginning to grow young.
