Content note: This is a work inspired by Greek mythology. You don't need to know Greek mythology to enjoy it. Male characters appear, and the main couples in each story are all monogamous, devoted first loves.
Greek mythology, but the goddesses decide to rewrite the script.
This work contains several independent stories. Some characters have gender-swapped roles. Expect retellings of myths, rewritten destinies, and a little everyday Olympus, where the gods are rather unreliable but very good at falling in love.
Hades x Persephone: Who is that pale beauty down below? Persephone really wants to know.
Amazon Warrior x Calypso: The goddess stranded on a lonely island finally meets someone willing to stay for her.
Eros x Psyche: Who taught you to trick your wife into coming home like that?
Dionysus x Ariadne: The princess gave a hero a ball of thread, but gave her hand to the god of wine.
Atalanta x Artemis: The running maiden won't stop for marriage, unless the moon herself reaches out to her.
Others to be decided.
There are no tales here about women being mere prizes in heroes' stories. Only stories of women reclaiming their names, choosing whom to love, and tearing up the original scripts to rewrite them.
Citation statement: This is an adaptation inspired by Greek mythology. It draws primarily on ancient Greek and Roman mythological texts and traditions in the public domain, and has been reimagined to suit this work's focus on female characters, gender-swapped roles, and reconstructed plots.
Major sources include Homer's Odyssey, the Homeric Hymn to Demeter, Hesiod's Theogony, Pseudo-Apollodorus's Bibliotheca, Ovid's Metamorphoses, Heroides, and Fasti, Apuleius's The Golden Ass, Plutarch's Life of Theseus, Catullus's Poem 64, Hyginus's Fabulae, Pausanias's Description of Greece, Diodorus Siculus's Bibliotheca historica, and Nonnus's Dionysiaca, among others.
Greek mythology has many different versions. The relationships, genders, romantic storylines, causes and effects of events, and some elements of the setting in this work are all original adaptations based on classical myths. Any resemblance is purely coincidental.
