A Love Story in Non-Euclidean Geometry

He Ran: I like Shen Nian.

Shen Nian: No, you like my brother.

He Ran: I'm not into men.

Shen Nian: Then why did you steal his copy of Grimm's Fairy Tales?

He Ran: ...I borrowed it.

Shen Nian: Then why did you go to his room when he was afraid of the dark?

He Ran: ...I was worried about him.

Shen Nian: Then why did you write, "Breaking is a right, not a malfunction," in clause five of the agreement?

He Ran: ...That was... That was...

Shen Que holds out a pen from behind him. Sign it. Party B.

He Ran: Sign what?

Shen Que: The Agreement on Follow-Up Arrangements After Fake Rivals Become Real Lovers. Clause one: Party A, Shen Que, has the right to feed Party B candy during a depressive episode. Clause two: Party B, He Ran, has the right to turn on the light when Party A is afraid of the dark. Clause three: This agreement supersedes all previous false statements such as "I like your sister."

He Ran: ...Did you prepare this contract ages ago?

Shen Que: I've been waiting twenty years. The pen's almost out of ink.

This isn't a story about healing. It's about two broken people planting flowers in the ruins.

Wild winter jasmine, growing wild, left alone, sprouting and blooming by itself, dying by itself.

But every spring, it comes back.

Bipolar, unhinged director × suit-wearing, brutal lawyer

He Ran × Shen Que

Happy ending, power couple, fake rivals, mutual salvation
