Moonlight over Yamdrok Lake

When the rules of the city fail above the snowline, only the moonlight remembers every secret.

Duan Yanzheng, an independent investigative journalist obsessed with the truth, is wounded by gunfire as she ventures into the quiet world along the shores of Yamdrok Lake to expose the vast conspiracy behind Lhasa.

Yangjin, a herder who lives alone by the sacred lake, hides her past with the patrol team and a gunshot scar beneath her collarbone under her broad Tibetan robe. In silence, she protects her family's lineage and the scars left on their land.

An imminent manhunt binds the fates of two women who have never met. The journalist's scrutinizing gaze collides with the herder's calm, lake-like resolve.

The warmth of milking sheep, the weight of gathering yak dung, galloping on horseback beneath the moon... Amid the plateau's most elemental way of life, the city's hard outer shell quietly melts away.

Until the pursuers close in and Yangjin steps in front of her. Beneath her Tibetan robe is an old gunshot wound identical to Duan Yanzheng's.

It turns out they are fleeing the same vast web,

And searching for the same ghost.

From the sacred lake to the holy mountain, in the narrow spaces between pursuit and escape,

The fates of two women intertwine beneath the moonlight.

She records the evidence of crimes through her camera lens; the other carves a legacy into stone.

At the edge of life and death, they see the light beneath each other's scars.

What they protect is not only evidence and their own lives, but also the fierce determination to live, and the battered dignity, that each once possessed or still carries within herself.

An epic of the Tibetan lands, about protection, memory, and an unbreakable bond.

When the moonlight rises over Yamdrok Lake, it illuminates not only the blue waters at its heart, but also the refuge where two souls will stand side by side from now on.
