A rich young gentleman from Hong Kong's upper circles x a gentle little rose, marriage first, love later
The day after Wu Ning returns home, her stepmother sends her the contact information of a man, saying he's her blind date. She asks when Wu Ning is free and tells her to go meet him.
Wu Ning doesn't want to make a fuss, so she says anytime is fine. Soon, her stepmother sends the exact time and place. Wu Ning agrees and says she'll be there on time.
Wu Ning has had very little say in her own life, ever since she was a child. She's gentle and obedient, and the elders all praise her for being well-behaved. But in truth, she's simply tired of arguing. She knows that disagreeing will bring a lot of tangled problems, so she's gotten used to saying yes to everything and refusing nothing.
So when the cool, distinguished man across from her asks if she's willing to get married during their blind date, she nods.
That same day, they leave the dessert shop and go straight to the civil affairs bureau to register their marriage.

Pei Zhuba, the eldest son of the Pei family of Hong Kong, is as refined as a gentle breeze and as distinguished as a moonlit night. He takes charge of the Pei Group at a young age and marries early, too.
At a friend's birthday banquet, someone asks the man what he thinks of this marriage. He takes a sip of wine and replies coolly, "We each get what we need."
She needs a husband, and he needs a wife.
Wu Ning hears this and agrees, but she doesn't expect him to still say they each get what they need not long afterward.
"I need someone to love. It just so happens that the person I love is my wife."
Wu Ning thought everyone liked people who were well-behaved. But after they get married, Pei Zhuba tells her that obedient people are what he likes least, and asks her to be a little more willful.
He tells her that the entire Pei family is behind her.
