The Nonexistent Pawnshop of Time

On a quiet street corner in the city,

there's a pawnshop no one has ever heard of.

It takes no gold or silver, and trades for no treasures.

It accepts as collateral something everyone has, but no one can hold on to: time.

You can trade dull moments for a stretch of gentle, happy days;

you can trade hard times for one perfect reunion.

But the pawnshop has one unchanging rule:

It never sells regret, and it never redeems the past once it has slipped away.

Every moment of time can be exchanged,

but regret is something you can only come to terms with on your own.
