Ashen Smoke (Complete Edition)

A few months ago, I pulled out A Box of Fragrance and took another look at it.

I questioned three things in the story:

After living apart for decades, would people really never give up in the face of temptation?

Would a man really remember a woman for decades after a fleeting glance?

Would the Zhang family really frame the Lu family because Lu Xiaopin rejected a marriage proposal?

The answer is no.

So I developed a parallel universe.

But the story may be controversial, and I won't show everything.

Why write it? I believe that to become an outstanding writer,

one must be able to handle all kinds of subject matter,

especially the complex human nature portrayed in serious literature.

This story is mainly for readers aged thirty and up.

Ashen smoke drifts across autumn in the Republic of China era; the wall of fragrant flowers conceals an unspoken obsession,

and the wind over Taihu carries the twists and turns of half a lifetime.

She is a bold woman with the proud spirit of wintersweet, who walks away.

He is a man of power, his infatuation hidden beneath his military uniform.

She is the dignified, lonely woman who keeps the family estate.

One chance encounter at a dance shatters half a lifetime of sorrow and joy.

In a world torn by chaos, love and hatred alike ultimately become ash that will never stop smoldering.
