After Writing Historical Novels in Teyvat

When an ordinary person transmigrates to Teyvat, with no Vision and no special skills, and a frail body, the hack web novelist Wen Qing falls flat on his face.

He almost ended up sleeping on the street. Even if he did, the Millelith would have hauled him away for being an eyesore in Liyue.

To support himself, he has no choice but to return to his old profession and become a purveyor of culture.

In a world where the gods reign supreme, he has to create something different. What kind of shock will historical novels untouched by divine meddling bring to readers?

"The First Emperor was modeled on the Geo Archon! Who dares say otherwise?"

A die-hard fan of the Geo Archon holds up The First Emperor's Biography and pounds the tea table as he shouts.

The majestic sweep of uniting the six kingdoms and bringing the realm under one rule keeps Liyue's immortals up all night reading. Even the Liyue Qixing call it riveting.

With its tragic tale of Yu Ji and the Hegemon King dying together, Song of Gaixia makes readers from several nations weep in droves. It even helps Wen Qing successfully launch the opera Farewell My Concubine with the Yun-Han Opera Troupe.

In The Twin Jewels of the Empire, the young man who declares, "If the Xiongnu are not vanquished, how can I call this home?" wins countless hearts.

The young general who dies in his prime leaves Paimon in floods of tears, desperate to send the author a box of blades.

The dazzling poetry in The Poets' Collection, and each poet weathering hardship, let even those outside Liyue appreciate the beauty of verse.

The second young master starts campaigning for votes like mad, while a wandering samurai from Inazuma travels a thousand miles in hopes of meeting the author...

In a place with no proper legal protections, readers from every walk of life are so eager to throw down that they leave him terrified.

Fortunately, he has a good landlord. Among Liyue's countless lights, one is always left burning for him.

As his books are published one by one, a story belonging to a nation without gods gradually unfolds. Its ideas and wisdom win the admiration of countless readers.

But why does it feel like his landlord's gaze is slowly starting to change, too?

The straight-laced Wen Qing shivers and scratches his head. While everyone else makes a heart with their hands, he makes a question mark.

P.S. The stories within the story aren't official history. They have a personal slant and are all works of artistic license.
