Reborn as My Childhood Friend's Cat

Ten years after Song Shaoyuan died, he was reborn.

He became the stray cat his childhood friend, Lu Xingzhou, had taken in.

They met again on a rainy day.

By then, Lu Xingzhou was thirty years old.

Song Shaoyuan, meanwhile, was just a kitten less than two months old.

The rain poured down. He curled up on the roadside, barely clinging to life.

As he teetered on the brink of death, a pair of cool hands lifted him into their arms. The familiar scent made his consciousness slowly fade.

When he woke again, he saw his childhood friend, familiar yet strange.

The youthful, gentle face he remembered had grown cold and distant, carrying an air of lifelessness.

"Meow, "

Song Shaoyuan let out a soft meow at Lu Xingzhou, then scratched him without hesitation when Lu Xingzhou picked him up.

A line of blood appeared on the back of Lu Xingzhou's hand, but he paid it no mind. He silently gazed at the kitten, thinking of the beloved he had kept in his heart for ten whole years. Carefully, he picked up the cat and murmured, "How about I call you Yuanyuan?"

From then on, the kitten lived happily with his childhood friend.

All he did every day was eat, sleep, and patrol his territory.

When the kitten turned one, he finally pushed open the door to a room full of secrets, a room Lu Xingzhou had forbidden anyone to enter.

He stared at what lay inside, unable to come to his senses for a long time.

There was an ancestral tablet on display. The words on it read:

Beloved Song Shaoyuan.

"Bonus Scene"

Lu Xingzhou: "A break-in in the study?"

The butler said anxiously, "Yes. You've lost a valuable possession."

Lu Xingzhou looked at the kitten hiding behind the sofa, a piece of his missing precious jewelry still clutched in its mouth. He gave a helpless, amused smile. "It's fine. Yuanyuan likes it, so let him hide it and play."

It was only when an important document went missing that Lu Xingzhou had to check the room's surveillance footage to see where the kitten had hidden it.

That was also the day he finally found the treasure he had lost ten years ago.
