[Western Crossover] Can a Detective-Type Guy Successfully Infiltrate the Vigilantes?
[综英美]侦探系男子能成功打入义警吗
by Pizza Who Doesn't Want to Be Called Pineapple (不想被叫菠萝的披萨)
Synopsis
Also known as: How a Mysterious Detective Man Makes It After Leaving His Wife; How Kurokiri-kun Plays an Enchantress in Gotham Today; How Am I, a Japanese Anime Protagonist, Supposed to Survive in the American Comics Universe?
Warnings: Lots of original characters, out-of-character portrayals and stereotypes, protagonist plot armor, characters getting put through the wringer, mountains of headcanons, and mushroom-esque sentences that are cryptic and unclear for no apparent reason, as if Hikaru Sakurai had taken over. Just kidding, it doesn't actually come close to Hikaru Sakurai's level ( ).
Blurb
It was the end of March. An ordinary Google god arrived in faithful Gotham.
On a gloomy morning, Kurokiri Mikiya opened his eyes on an old hospital bed.
He had lost every memory except for common knowledge.
Who was he? Where was he? What was he supposed to do?
So, for the time being, he stayed in this unfamiliar city.
A director who failed to pay his employees, couldn't make payroll, and said, "Employees should figure out how to raise the money themselves," had once told him he seemed well suited to being a detective.
Then he would be a detective.
But why was his investor Timothy Drake, son of Mr. Wayne?
Not a deadbeat boss? Great! Surely he wouldn't make his employees raise money themselves!
The office Mr. Drake provided had four floors.
So he would call it
The Garan no Do.
The Kurokiri Detective Agency was officially open!

From visitors from beyond the stars, like ETs, ALIENS, and the Green, Red, Yellow, Blue, Purple, Orange, and Indigo Lantern Corps; to S.T.A.R. Labs, the League of Assassins, and Gotham's villains, including the Joker, Two-Face, the Penguin, and Black Mask; all the way down to the people of Gotham's underbelly.
We take cases involving infidelity, paranormal incidents, lost items, missing persons, mysteries, and family issues. We also treat appendicitis (my wife is a miracle doctor for appendicitis, but she's temporarily unavailable), counsel angsty teenage boys and girls, and, as the detective is already married, decline marriage proposals (P.S. I'm waiting for my wife).
Not accepted: marriage certificates and loans from deadbeat bosses.

Cases we take:
Finding anything (or anyone)
Appendicitis specialist (not me)
Paranormal or strange incidents, or romance and family issues
Romance advice for teenage boys and girls
Not accepted:
Matchmaking, or deadbeat bosses

Welcome to the main office of the Kurokiri Detective Agency. We take on all kinds of cases, big or small, from mysterious phenomena to counseling teenagers. We accept everything except marriage certificates. We also buy antique swords (P.S. Bring your own price).
P.S. Looking for my wife. If she's gone for three days, I'll kill myself.
(That's called dying for love!
Why didn't you say so sooner? I'm off!)
He has a bad habit of bringing food to the kids in Crime Alley. When they find out he's a detective, they all fight over becoming his assistant (?).
He starts the Crime Alley Squad (the Baker Street Squad),
but why do they keep getting more members?
They aren't even all from Crime Alley anymore!
Why are red-and-green birds and red-and-blue super-kids joining in, too?
Between his everyday jobs finding cats and dogs, he also solves serial murder cases (competing with the Bat Family to solve cases? Now that's interesting).
The Gotham City Police Department officers' view of him changes from "suspicious vagrant" to "reliable private detective."
Google god (Kurokiri Mikiya): I just wanted to open a detective agency in Gotham and look for my wife. How did I end up as an honorary member of the Bat Family and the leader of a bunch of brats?
Before you read:
1. The pairing is Mikiya/Shiki. Shiki appears, but the focus is mainly on Shiki and Mikiya, and romance isn't the main plot. At this point in the story, Mikiya and Shiki have just gotten married and have no children (Mina).
There are no definite secondary pairings; readers can draw their own conclusions. The author is chaotic and enjoys all sorts of pairings, but won't go out of their way to write them.
2. The protagonist is the male lead from The Garden of Sinners. He's an ordinary person, and you don't need to have read the original to enjoy this story.
Information about The Garden of Sinners that is assumed to be known in the main text will be explained in the author's notes. Anything not explained there will come up later. Readers who haven't read it can treat him as an original character.
3. The story alternates between first- and third-person narration and switches among multiple points of view. Each viewpoint is limited and may not reflect the truth. A character may seem illogical or out of character from one person's perspective, but the reason will be made clear from another person's perspective.
4. There are many original characters, but they're ordinary people, not author avatars or the author's precious OCs, so don't worry. Some original criminals, villains, and passersby will get plenty of screen time. Mikiya is becoming a detective, so there will be original criminals.
5. This is a self-indulgent story, so there may be strange or illogical scenes written to entertain the author. If you can't stand it, feel free to leave. The point of self-indulgent writing is to have fun (runs away).
(Though Kurokiri Mikiya and Gotham may not seem like a good match, the original idea was "Batboy Kurokiri Mikiya." But Mikiya is a bit too old, has both parents, and is an ordinary person, so I couldn't figure out how he could be a Batboy.)
6. Suggestions about the plot, character personalities, setting, writing, and so on are welcome. Reasonable suggestions will be considered. Everything is based on my own understanding of the characters, so there will definitely be differences in interpretation and some OOC portrayals. Feel free to suggest changes. If you're right, I'll change it. If it's my self-indulgent story, I won't.
7. Prompt suggestions are welcome. Please leave lots of comments 🥺 I'll write them all.
8. Most of what I've seen of DC is movies, TV shows, and animation. I only pick up comics with art styles I like and read whichever ones catch my eye. I haven't read everything or studied it systematically. The characterizations are a mix of the parts I liked in what I've seen, not based on any one work.
I know some of these portrayals are stereotypes, but a lot of them are fun!
For example, Bruce Wayne can't cook. That doesn't seem reasonable at all, and I remember that in the original he only accidentally blew up the kitchen. But Batman blowing up the kitchen is so funny! Everyone writes it that way, so I hope I won't get flak for it (nervous).
That's just an example. I probably won't include that in the story.
9. I added the FGO tag because I like it. The story may not actually contain anything related to it.
10. The story is mainly set in Gotham, but will visit other cities along the way. Other characters from The Garden of Sinners will appear in Gotham in various forms. Apart from the characters listed, they'll only make cameos, and you don't need to know them to follow the story.
Other untagged characters from Western franchises may also appear or make cameos.
11. There are mountains of headcanons. Anything that doesn't match the original is generally my own invention, including some canon details I didn't understand.
12. I've swallowed the timeline. Don't worry about it, because I can't make any sense of it at all.
The only dates mentioned in the story are the month and day, and they're all headcanons unrelated to the original's dates.
13. Mikiya and Shiki are both perfect people, practically demons of their own making, so both female and male characters will develop one-sided crushes on them. (Of course, no one will get hurt.)
14. Since Mikiya is the sort of person who can get along with people of all kinds, good, bad, or in between, he'll be friendly toward most DC villains, with the exception of certain villains even he can't tolerate.
15. To be continued.
Title: Can a Detective-Type Guy Successfully Infiltrate the Vigilantes? By me, who's gotten pretty good at coming up with mysterious, overly long titles ( ).
Cover title: He's a Detective by Nature, but Vigilantes Are Even More My Type. By Su Pao Nai Qiu, a patient suffering from Gravity Boys Syndrome.
One-line summary: How Does a Mysterious Detective Man Make It After Leaving His Wife? By Shajo Ai Ge, a severe case of codependency.
Theme: The Detective Son-in-Law's Independence Day ( ). By Su Pao Nai Qiu, a patient suffering from Gravity Boys Syndrome.
Main story: By Italy's Greatest Rival Chef.
Note: For personal reasons, I really like using ", " as a dash, so it'll show up a lot in the story (because Nasu Kinoko uses it a lot, and after seeing it so often, I started liking it too).
Theme: The Detective Son-in-Law's Independence Day ( )

WOC has been having fun watching inj these past two days, and I haven't written the Children's Day Kurotung Mikiya Lily extra yet!
[Spread flowers] Wow, Kurogiri is indeed such a charmer.
Could it be that the bottle warehouse is bare?
The unpopular character... Is it from Sora no Kyoukai or DC or other anime? If it is the Realm of the Sky, Yan Tiaoba or Wu Tiao Mie A fortune teller appears in this chapter... Will Guan Buzi's mother appear later? I really want to see grandma give Bruce a divination 🤩
For the sake of Sister Shi and Google, I searched for the Adventure of the Second World. Unfortunately, Sister Shi basically didn't appear. She mostly did it and gave out sweets from the side. I was so angry. I really wanted to see the two of them appear and give out sweets from the front.
Although I have not read the original work, it does not affect my reading. The male protagonist is very interesting. I look forward to the author's updates [Rose][Rose][Rose]
If the angle of view is changed too frequently, it will look very troublesome.
The teacher's writing is very good. I have been looking forward to more stories about Mikiya and Shiki after the end of Sky Realm 🤩. Also, will Flowers and Mina appear [Let Me Kangkang]
. . . What do you mean by a friend who can imaginary numbers and dive? I'm going to die laughing.
It's so gentle~=v=
