Don't Fall in Love with a Necromancer

[Next up, I'm writing this one]

During a season of little rain and migrating birds, Belina traveled with her teacher through Obsidian County, a territory belonging to the Great Archmage Hadrian.

Because of attacks by flocks of birds and her poor health, she had no choice but to leave her teacher and stay for a while in the only town along the way.

There was no music or art here, only dour townsfolk whose temperaments resembled their lord's, and the flocks of dodo crows that returned year after year.

It was here that Belina met the lord rumored to be solitary and gloomy.

On the day she left to return home, she made a promise to him: when the migratory birds returned next season, she would come back with them.

Belina broke her promise.

As a spirit no one could see or touch, the moment she drifted back to this territory, she saw her teacher give the gift she had left behind to him. She saw how utterly different the little town had become, and how its residents had begun to love music and flowers.

Belina was relieved. Just as she was about to see whether the great lord had also learned to love life more, so she could finally let go of her lingering attachment and depart, her eyes met his somber gaze.

...Oh. She hadn't expected the great lord to be so versatile that he even moonlighted as a necromancer. He could clearly see her, but why did he look so sad?

[Gentle, fragile artist x taciturn, solitary lord]

[A tender, healing little story. It seems to have a BE flavor, but actually has a happy ending.]

Things to note before reading:

1. This author is terrible at coming up with fantasy names. I don't write much Western fantasy, so please don't worry about the details!

2. The story began as a vivid, beautiful dream I had. The hero and heroine even had a song of their own in the dream. Once I learn how to write sheet music, I'll find a way to record it...

3. As always, this is a pure-love, 1v1 story with a devoted couple. Pure-love warriors, charge!

4. I decided to write this as a reward to myself after finishing my last plot-driven novel. Once again, I'm letting myself go with a romance-driven story! Probably. Who knows? qwq

Theme: Love is the sunshine after the rain.
