As a mass-produced cannon fodder character in a tokusatsu show, Xi Taoguan has a bit of a problem.
Her boyfriend is simply too dazzling.
That's right, her boyfriend is none other than Kuga Jianfa, the main character of the famous IP Engraved Knight's "Zero Point" series and a top-tier combatant known as the knight "Sacredly Crafted Glass."
He's the kind of hero who is always played by someone handsome and beautiful. He calmly says, "Transform!" then dons cold, metallic transformation armor and fights urban monsters, using power beyond ordinary people's understanding to preserve the world's balance and peace.
As for Xi Taoguan, she's just a little cannon fodder from some villainous organization.
*
As a mass-produced cannon fodder for the Abyss Organization, Xi Taoguan
lives a cheap life, with a limited lifespan.
One year, one month.
The organization gave her a mission.
Kill the core knight of the "Heavenly Throne" base, Sacredly Crafted Glass.
If she didn't finish within three months, they would dispose of her.
"Huh?"
Me, take out Sacredly Crafted Glass...?
Taoguan blinked. Her expression didn't change, but inside, she felt so weak she could barely keep from collapsing.
*
To complete her objective, Xi Taoguan
kept a low profile, bided her time, endured humiliation, and steeled herself for hardship. By day, she juggled several jobs; by night, she studied knight tactics...
Like an all-purpose background extra, she appeared at the hero's side, sometimes as a schoolgirl screaming while monsters attacked, sometimes as a reporter obsessed with chasing hot stories. Even when he and his companions discussed tactics, she was the café's tea-serving girl.
She never once took part in the main plot.
But luckily, one day at last,
she finally caught Kuga Jianfa alone and on the verge of death.
Just as she picked up her battered transformation device, ready to swoop in and claim the kill,
the weakened hero, with his last breath,
raised his battered hand and...
confessed his love to her.
Xi Taoguan blinked.
"Huh?"

Harumori Rihito, the Engraved Knight "Dawn Silver Key."
Just as his name suggests, he's the team's dazzling sun. His sunny personality and dependable strength have earned the trust of his teammates. He looks up to Senior Kuga, deeply admiring his strength and kindness, and draws motivation from him. He's become one of the team's "two core members."
Harumori Rihito has a secret.
He's in love with his senior's girlfriend.
But he can only bury that kind of feeling deep inside.
Because his senior loves his girlfriend very much.
His senior goes to great lengths to hide his identity as an Engraved Knight.
He pretends to be a professor of folklore for her sake.
Even amid the relentless battles, he never forgets to care for her and watch over her, drawing motivation from the sight of her happy smile.
Even when covered in wounds,
he forces himself to keep going, never daring to slack off.
Harumori Rihito can only offer them his usual brilliant, congratulatory smile.
He hopes they can walk hand in hand, and even takes it upon himself to protect their happiness.
But one day, while chasing the enemy's remnants to a ruined branch base,
he made a shocking discovery.
His senior's girlfriend was a spy for the enemy organization.
He was furious, conflicted, and couldn't believe it.
He trembled and retched.
He was in unbearable pain.
His senior loved her so much...
Yet she wanted to destroy the bonds between the Engraved Knights and kill him.
And even him...
After agonizing over it for a long time, he finally found her, hoping to confront her face-to-face.
He wanted her to turn over a new leaf and stop harming innocent Engraved Knights.
But she confessed her love to him.
One-line summary: Every day, she's working hard to kill her boyfriend.

1. An old-school love story. A melodramatic, angst-heavy romance featuring a darkly obsessed, universally adored heroine, a love polygon, tragic romance, and twisted elements. Melodrama! Melodrama! Melodrama! Twisted! Twisted! Twisted!
2. I've recently been watching the Crayon Shin-chan Kamen Rider movies and Kamen Rider, and really wanted to write a story about a dark romance set amid the kind of plot where people shout "Transform!" and "For justice!" before fighting monsters, leveling up, and saving the world. So I wrote one. It has an original tokusatsu setting and cast, not a derivative work. The setting is rather rough, the logic is nonexistent, and the good-versus-evil organizations are extremely simple, with righteous heroes fighting monsters. Please treat it as a backdrop for the romance. If you find any plot holes, don't doubt yourself: it's simply because I'm not very good at writing T_T
3. The heroine is sweet on the outside and dark within. She's quite evil and cries easily. She's not human in essence, so she can't be judged by human moral standards. This isn't a story about a strong female lead. Overall, it's a somewhat dark, adult-oriented, and fairly light romantic comedy...!
Notes:
*Tokusatsu. An abbreviation for special effects photography, the term in its narrow sense refers specifically to Japanese films and television shows made using special effects. Nowadays, it's used broadly for hero shows in which characters wear transformation suits, combat suits, or armor after transforming. Examples include Godzilla, Ultraman, Kamen Rider, and Super Sentai. [Excerpted from Baidu Baike]
*This work only makes jokes and references to famous tokusatsu works. It is not a direct derivative work, and no actual original names will appear.
Theme: Cherish life and keep moving forward.
