After the Frail Top Reborn

Ji You was in poor health. The doctor said that any strong emotional swings could put him in danger.

When he was eighteen, everyone said he was the real young master of the Ji family, and he was taken back to the Wen family.

The people in the Wen family did not seem to like him. His older brother did not seem to welcome him, and his mother preferred the child she had raised herself.

Day after day, Ji You watched them enjoying their happy family life. It made him a little sad.

He had never said he wanted to go to the Wen family. They had brought him back without giving him a choice.

He wasn't Wen You. He didn't like that name.

Just as he had finally escaped a life shrouded in gloom, he was given a second chance at life. But after the Wen family found him, he fell into another mire.

Ji You's old illness returned, this time affecting not only his body but also his mind.

In less than two years, the world was one Ji You poorer.

When he opened his eyes again, he was back on the day the Wen family had come to take him home.

Ji You gently declined. "I'm sorry, but I don't really want to go back to the Wen family."

He wasn't going back to the Wen family. He wanted to live a healthy life.

Over the past few days, a boy had appeared in the counseling room, astonishingly handsome, thin, and tall. He most often wore a white down jacket and stood in the wind, seeming as if he might disappear at any moment.

The doctor always found himself watching him for a long time.

Ji You thought it was strange that he kept running into the doctor.

He also felt as if someone were watching him as he walked down the street.

After running into the doctor for the forty-sixth time, Ji You asked in confusion, "Doctor, I feel like I've seen you many times. Is this a hallucination too?"

Yu Jianjing smiled but didn't explain. He simply handed Ji You a brightly blooming flower and said softly, "A Jing, Happy New Year."

This isn't a hallucination. I've always been right behind you.

Bonus Scene

Yu Jianjing suddenly said, "Ji You doesn't sound nice. The Wen family is such a bad omen. How about taking my surname? What do you think of Yu You?"
