Little Lucky Star of the Farmhouse: Today Is a Good Day to Get Rich

[One-line summary: A little lucky star has a [Today's Fortune] panel and leads her whole family to a better life!]

Everyone in the small mountain village wondered how Old Madam Chen, who had favored boys her whole life, came to dote on her little granddaughter as if she were the apple of her eye.

Hugging her granddaughter, Old Madam Chen knew perfectly well: her Xiaoxiao was a lucky star!

When the baby was just a few months old, she would cry with her toothless grin and point her little hand toward the reed marsh. Her grandmother reluctantly carried her there, and they came back with a nest of duck eggs.

Once the girl could talk, she tugged her grandmother toward the back hills. Beneath three banyan trees, they found two enormous rabbits that had knocked themselves unconscious.

Later, her soft little plea, "Daddy, don't go to the county town," kept her father from getting caught up in a gang fight there.

Hugging her little granddaughter, Old Madam Chen felt warmth bloom in her chest.

What was the point of having a boy to carry on the family line? The real treasures were the ones who could feed the whole family, help them avoid disaster, and lead them to prosperity!

Chen Xiao, who had been born into this life, couldn't help feeling exasperated. All she had was a [Today's Fortune] panel.

[Minor luck today: A school of fish will gather downstream at the creek during the Shen hour.]

[Moderate luck today: A large patch of chrysanthemums lies behind the boulder on the back hill.]

[Major bad luck today: Avoid climbing. You may break a leg.]

As a child, Chen Xiao used childish words to call out all sorts of good and bad fortunes, helping her family eat their fill. Her parents got new clothes and moved into a house with gray roof tiles, and her older brother started attending school!

Each day brought more hope for the future.

Until a boy appeared, with bright eyes and a clean, easy smile. A line of small text would always appear on the [Today's Fortune] panel:

[Ordinary. A kind neighbor will arrive, and all will go smoothly.]

Theme: Make the most of every present moment.
