The East Bank of the Spring River [GB]

As soon as Yu Jianzhou joined the force, her mentor told her about Chen Shenyan's "notorious reputation": brilliant at his job, with a vicious tongue. Anyone who spoke to him was sure to get torn to shreds.

He was a miracle survivor and a legend in decline.

Yu Jianzhou was a rising star in the police force, a promising talent. By the time she was rising on the West Coast, Chen Shenyan had fallen into the water on the East Coast, his genius fading away.

They sounded like men from different eras, and he really had been left far behind by the ever-advancing technology of criminal investigation.

She carefully sized up the pretty boy who had been parachuted in. Bad luck, cruel fate, a life full of misfortune: Chen Shenyan was now under her supervision.

All my life I've loved the beauty of West Lake. I came here in a red-wheeled carriage; riches drift like clouds, and twenty years have passed in a blink.

Returning, I feel like the crane from Liaodong. The city and its people have changed; everything is new to my eyes. Who would recognize the old master of those days?
