In the face of any hardship or disaster, charge forward like a soldier. Like Xu Sanduo, never abandon anyone and never give up. Steel Seventh Company and Old A were always like this, more vivid and nuanced than they were in the TV series. This really isn't a novel. It's philosophy, it's life, it's the history of our growth. Every reader can find a little of themselves in Xu Sanduo. He seems like two different people, yet deep down, he's still someone you can't help but admire and reflect on. Even his "foolishness" is enough to make you like him. You'll think, "A good book can teach you how to be a good person!" Amidst the clash of arms, spirited men reveal the rich yet austere inner world of soldiers. An ordinary country boy with his own flaws, simple and stubborn, stumbles and struggles through the world of the military. His stupidity made the whole company suffer; his earnestness moved them all; his persistence made every soldier in the regiment proud. Though the ancestral home in his village was reduced to rubble in an explosion, nothing could stop his resolute steps as a soldier. His kindhearted compassion never made him forget his duty: he shot a drug dealer... Through hardship and trial after trial, he was tempered into steel. His name: Xu Sanduo.
