Recommended Dongfang Bubai Fanfiction

After mastering divine martial arts, he overcame fame and fortune and left the conflicts of the martial world behind. He conquered his emotions (joy, anger, sorrow, fear, love, hatred, and desire), too, and could therefore kill his own brothers as he pleased without a qualm. But when he had conquered everything and faced the reality of life, he discovered that he was no more than a speck in the vast ocean, destined to return to dust after a hundred years. All his former ambition had vanished, leaving only despair and pain. So he withdrew to a cave in the mountains, far from everyone. He loved a man named Yang Lianting, though perhaps that love was only something to cling to after becoming unbearably bored. Yang Lianting was physically frail but strong-willed. They looked like a married couple, and when Dongfang Bubai saw him hurt, fury filled his heart. He even had a longtime friend put to death, but when it came to Yang, he had seen through the bonds of brotherhood and did whatever he pleased. Perhaps he did not love Yang Lianting, but instead saw him as an incarnation of himself, someone to pin his hopes on. That was why it hurt when others harmed Yang. In facing reality, he endured such profound despair and pain without losing his life, showing just how strong he was. He lived in the cave, his heart growing calm. He was waiting for the man far away beneath West Lake to come and end his pain and his life, and to make amends. This was the fate he had arranged for himself. If that man never came, he would wait for the rest of his life. Therefore, Dongfang Bubai is the most profound and wise figure in this book, and deserves the respect of readers within and beyond its pages.
