A sweet post-apocalyptic forest fairy tale / animal story / characters stay animals throughout
The white tiger, the fiercest king in this forest.
He traveled north from a distant place and found this forest, a suitable home in a broken world. With his powerful body and agile movements, he became its ruler.
The white tiger had a problem. He had no one of his own kind in the forest, and he had no interest in the yellowish lions or leopards. He had no wife and no cubs, so he was doomed to be a lonely tiger.
One day, the melancholy tiger found a white “tiger cub” in the forest. It was small, black and white, and covered in wounds.
Tiger: Great! I've found a wife! I'm finally going to have cubs!
The frail little white tiger was a handful. He often got sick or hurt, and he was so bold he'd charge into any situation, giving the tiger plenty to worry about.
But the tiger was patient, and carefully nursed the little one back to health.
Then the tiger faced a fatal problem:
He'd been feeding his wife properly, so why wasn't she growing up?
How could that little body possibly do? She'd get hurt!
The little snow leopard was born prematurely and had always been in poor health.
After he was injured once, his family thought he was dead and buried him in the forest, covering him with a loose layer of leaves.
Luckily, he was tough enough to survive.
He met a kind big brother who took him hunting, gave him delicious food, and cared for him well.
The snow leopard set himself a new goal: eat well, then grow as big and strong as his big brother.
So the little snow leopard bravely went for it, biting into meat with gusto... and successfully brought himself to the brink of death several times.
The little snow leopard, rescued from the edge of death, looked up at his big brother guiltily, tears welling in his pale blue eyes.
He licked his big brother's chin and asked in a small voice, “Big brother, does this mean I can't become a mighty king of the forest?”
His big brother asked him, “Were you happy running around the forest and getting into trouble?”
The little snow leopard nodded and answered, “Very happy.”
“Then that's enough, baby.”
Until one day, the tiger and the leopard learned that they weren't the same species.
The tiger's world came crashing down when he realized the wife he'd found couldn't give him tiger cubs.
The leopard's world came crashing down when he realized he couldn't grow up to look like his big brother.
“It's okay, baby. We're both felines. A little leopard cub will do.”
The leopard asked in confusion, “Can a male leopard have cubs too?”
“Yes.”
The tiger knocked the leopard down and licked his fur with his barbed tongue.
We'll worry about whether they have cubs later. First, let's talk about the process.
Gentle, fatherly big tiger top & frail, beautiful little leopard bottom
Male pregnancy! They'll use technology to make it happen, but never mind that, there will be cubs!
Mutually inexperienced, 1v1, size difference / age difference without a lifespan gap
