On the night of his twenty-fifth birthday, Giyu Tomioka made his last wish: that in that world, his sister and Sabito would forgive him for his mistakes.
When he opened his eyes again, an old ceiling hung above him. He stared blankly for a moment. Why did the world after death look so familiar?
Giyu sat up and looked at his unharmed right hand. He quickly realized something was wrong: compared to his hands after joining the Demon Slayer Corps, his smaller hands were practically delicate and pale.
Muzan was dead. It couldn't be a Blood Demon Art.
Even the Water Hashira, who had survived countless brushes with death, was completely stumped.
The door slid open. A girl in a crimson kimono entered with a wooden basin. "Giyu, if you're awake, you could at least say something."
Giyu's eyes followed her as she moved. His body went rigid, and he didn't dare move.
"You woke up so late today. Hurry and wash up, then come eat breakfast."
Watching the bow on her braided hair sway, he murmured, "Sister..."
Tsutako turned back in confusion. "Did you sleep yourself silly?"
Was this a dream? Or another world?
But the soft, warm touch felt far too real. Whatever this was, he couldn't stand by and watch his sister die protecting him again.
After settling his sister Tsutako in, Giyu followed the route he remembered to Mount Sagiri. Before he could see his master, Sakonji Urokodaki, a flash of peach-colored hair caught his eye.
The familiar violet eyes held a confused, puzzled light. "Who are you?"
Giyu's long-suppressed emotions threatened to overwhelm him. Was this a punishment or a reward?

The two passed the Demon Slayer Corps' Final Selection with ease and rose through the ranks at a pace no one else could match.
But after Giyu injured himself again on a mission, Sabito finally snapped.
"Giyu Tomioka! Do you think I'm a three-year-old?! Do you have to protect me from everything? You've been like this ever since we left Mount Sagiri. Do you enjoy getting hurt?!"
"If you pull another stupid stunt like that, we're done. Don't ever see me again!"
