Mina had been the Snowflake Town troublemaker ever since she was little.
At one, she could wield a sword. At two, she stabbed a thug. At three, she beat up the mayor. Her infamy spread from north to south.
At three and a half, after conquering all the little brats in town, she proudly stood in a muddy patch of the park and saw the prettiest big brother she had ever laid eyes on.
Her heart pounded in that instant.
Blushing, Mina wrapped her arms around his leg and shouted, “Pretty big brother, when I grow up, I’m going to marry you!”
But the big brother was acting strangely. He covered his face, his whole body shaking, and even shed tears.
He also pointed a strange black box at her and took a picture, saying, “I’ll show you this when you’re older.”
Mina grinned and flashed a peace sign, cleverly figuring it out. “So this is our wedding anniversary photo, right?”
The pretty big brother laughed so hard that tears of emotion sprang from his eyes. “That’s right.”
When Mina was six, the Demon King appeared.
Mina was determined to become the hero who saved the world.
She went to school to learn magic, gathered an elf archer, a mermaid mage, a knight with a shield, and the pretty big brother who could heal, and set off on a journey to slay the Demon King.
Every time they reached a town and solved a major problem, she announced to the world that the pretty big brother was the person she would marry in the future.
The pretty big brother was delighted.
Not only did he record everything she did, he also told her stories at night and coaxed her to sleep.
Mina loved her big brother most of all~
Fifteen years later.
Mina, having recovered her memories of her past life, is struck by a thunderbolt from a clear sky.
The long-lived man boasts that he has always maintained his youthful good looks, says he raised her all by himself, then produces a pile of embarrassing evidence and sighs, “You were so cute when you cried and begged to marry me as a kid.” Mina fires a forbidden spell at him. “Get lost!!”
-
A thousand years ago, the long-lived man made a human friend.
His friend was the chosen child of destiny, destined to be reborn whenever the Demon King appeared. He was tasked with saving humanity and killing the Demon King, only to die a brief century later.
When his friend was reincarnated for the first time, the long-lived man was merely an onlooker.
He watched as his friend’s home was destroyed and he stumbled along the road ahead, gaining companions and losing them, then slaying the Demon King in despair and rage before dying.
When his friend was reincarnated for the second time, the long-lived man somehow became his companion.
He followed her through all the dangers, experiencing her courage (getting into trouble), her optimism (getting caught after causing trouble and thinking it was no big deal), the food she cooked that could send someone to hell, and the clothes she washed until they fell apart.
And so they went from strangers to companions, from companions to close friends who could talk about anything, and then he watched her grow old and enter her tomb amid the voices of those mourning her, leaving him forever.
A human life is so short.
There were still so many things they had promised to do together, and yet she left him all alone.
Since heroes exist to defeat the Demon King, if he became the Demon King, would his friend’s third reincarnation have a longer life?
He became the Demon King.
The Demon King belongs to the hero.
