[A Happy Home]

"Skin is a renewable resource, and so is shamelessness."

Two middle school students disappear one after another on Mishi Street. The prime suspect turns out to be a student’s mother, who spends all day in tears. But this mother has the perfect alibi.

[Whispers in the Woods]

People keep disappearing in these remote mountain forests. On my night patrols, I can always hear a voice whispering right behind my ear. At first, I couldn't make out what it was saying. But after I discovered that horrifying deep pit, I began to ask myself: How many people have come before me?

[Older Sister]

After school, a pair of eyes hung at the end of the alley, staring straight at me. Before bed, those eyes appeared outside my window, and finally they showed up beside my bed. Were they trying to kill "me," or the other "me"?

★Part Two of The Scarlet Spider Case Files: Inspiration is still accumulating

[The Man-Faced Fish]

"The red fish has a huge appetite, but it's picky. Feed it, and it will repay you with a wish of equal value."

After a wealthy businessman down on his luck visits Ling Mountain to burn incense and pray, he receives an anonymous package. Inside the delivery bag is a scrawny red fish, along with a sheet of paper explaining how to use it.

[Believer's Journal]

"Something inhuman is watching us from the dark. Should we call ourselves believers, or food?"

A great fire destroys the Newcastle Church on Main Street, revealing twelve bodies deep inside. The corpses are arranged in bizarre poses, their limbs twisted. The case reminds me of my grandfather, who died many years ago. He was found dead in the attic of his own home, in exactly the same way.
