The Mute Saintess

Master and disciple / older gong / transmigrate into a book / reincarnation / coercion / regretful pursuit

One-line description: She thinks she is a substitute, but she is actually the original

Lin Niannian transmigrates into a book, a historical baihe xianxia novel, where she becomes a sacrificial saintess who dies as soon as she appears.

The book says so little about this saintess that Lin Niannian only knows she is the saintess of the Siyue Tribe, which lives in seclusion on Siyue Mountain and emerges into the world once every twenty years.

So after transmigrating into the book, Lin Niannian can only pretend to have lost her memory, which helps her avoid quite a few problems.

That is, until the story’s great villain, the sacrificial saintess’s master, returns, and Lin Niannian gives herself away the moment she speaks.

This saintess is! A mute!!!

Looking into the great villain’s sinister eyes, Lin Niannian immediately drops to her knees. “Master! Would you believe me if I said I woke up one day and could suddenly speak?”

But the great villain merely strokes her face, saying with a hint of regret, “Yue’er, be a good saintess. Run away one more time, and I won’t mind digging out your eyes, too.”

Yue’er, Lou Xianyue, the saintess of the Siyue Tribe.

Lin Niannian quickly nods in agreement.

Much later, Lin Niannian learns that not a single saintess of the Siyue Tribe has ever lived to see her twentieth birthday.

Later still, she discovers the woman hidden in her master’s secret chamber: the real saintess of the Siyue Tribe, Lou Xianyue, a woman who looks exactly like her.

In the end, Lin Niannian runs away.
