A melodramatic love triangle, a story of you loving me while I love her

Older woman / Replacement / Adoptive mother and daughter / Imperial consort x princess

Meng Huaijin's mother died soon after she was born, and Shen Renzhu took her from the emperor to raise as her own.

Shen Renzhu was not favored. After years in the palace, she had risen only to the rank of Jieyu, and had no children of her own. Meng Huaijin was all she had.

To Meng Huaijin, Shen Renzhu had always seemed like a gentle, considerate mother, and Meng Huaijin believed it.

Until one day, Shen Renzhu unexpectedly caught her on a date with someone else.

When Meng Huaijin blushed and said, "Mother Consort, this is the one I love," she was met with a pair of eyes dark as night.

Her gentle mother was gone. Shen Renzhu forbade her from seeing anyone, even keeping her confined in the palace.

And yet her mother still treated her so well, so well that Meng Huaijin was almost ready to accept her. Then she accidentally entered her mother's secret chamber.

Its walls were covered in portraits of her birth mother, along with letters Shen Renzhu had written to her.

Every single one overflowed with longing and love.

Years later, Shen Renzhu smiled calmly at the person pointing a sword at her.

That person asked her, "Mother Consort, do you regret it?"

Shen Renzhu closed her eyes and shook her head.

From then on, Jieyu Shen vanished from the palace, while the new emperor's harem gained a consort with no title or status.
