Wuqishi winters are too long.

Snow covers the old alleys and Qu Ning's footprints alike.

Qu Ning is a comic artist.

Even as she gradually loses sensation in her fingers,

she still keeps drawing comics.

She and her childhood friend Meng Yu once promised to draw the sound of falling snow together on a collaborative drawing app.

As children, they both wanted to become comic artists.

But in the end, Meng Yu went to Lichuan to chase his dream.

She stayed home, waiting for a message from him.

Later, she was diagnosed with ALS. Later still, he fell to his death from a building.

Qu Ning says, "The wind's direction isn't the road home, but I'll take you back."

On that night of the blizzard, the streetlights looked like unfinished sketches.

She opened the door, and the snow fell in delicate flakes, like breaths.

The world thought she had died of her illness. In truth, she had only caught up with the wind.

The wind carried them both home.
