“Every story has an indispensable character. Their presence may be as light as a feather or as weighty as a mountain. They charge bravely ahead, showing no fear or hesitation when faced with powerful opponents. They live wholeheartedly for their own goals...”
Ke Luo was full of anticipation. “What’s my mission?”
At the very beginning, the junior System, Little 36, told Ke Luo bluntly, “You’re a cannon-fodder character. Please do your best to play your role and survive the game missions...”
Before the powerful duke could use his killing skill, 36 hurriedly flipped through the System handbook. “It’s okay! The System can rewind time by ten seconds, three times...”
Ke Luo, a reckless cannon fodder who had managed to enter the manor without breaking a sweat, tilted his head in confusion. “What can you even do in ten seconds?”
Watching the Host lie down beside the BOSS and drift peacefully to sleep, 36 thought: ...BOSS, is your instant-kill-on-entry skill on cooldown?
Before the hunter could teach him a lesson with another “polite” warning, 36 hurriedly checked the mission tips. “Host, apologize right now! The hunter uses violence to teach rude people a lesson!...”
After the hunter warned him, the spoiled young master playing the role of “cannon fodder” kicked him, then glared furiously, the corners of his eyes reddening. “...What? Let go!” You pervert!
Watching the hunter hold on to the Host and even sniff him, 36 let out a piercing scream. “Aaaaaah! Let go of my small, helpless, pitiful Host!”
Later, when people kept turning strange, 36 grew worried. “Dear, you’re just a cannon-fodder character... Be careful around those BOSSES! ...Don’t let him kiss you!”
Ke Luo felt rather guilty about it. He was always diligently playing the part of a cannon fodder... but he never got the chance to tell 36 to close its eyes first. The moment the privacy protection system kicked in, 36’s world turned completely black...
After the missions were over, when his seniors repeatedly asked whether cannon-fodder survival missions were the hardest kind, 36 only smiled without answering. No one knew that during missions it kept checking whether its assigned department really was the notoriously unlucky and troublesome Cannon-Fodder Survival Department, rather than the 108 Ways to Record Romance Department...
You’re a cannon-fodder character. In a strange manor, you’re a brave hero with a weak appearance and a strong core, meaning you have no sense of self-preservation, exploring the BOSS’s lair alone...
On a rainy night in the uninhabited zone, you insist on visiting the hunter’s cabin, rumored to be the home of a mass murderer...
In a research institute teeming with mutants, you stubbornly try to tame the powerful Mutant No. 1...
After completing mission after mission, Ke Luo found it hard to be afraid of the seemingly unbeatable opponents. He always felt that the targets he was supposed to “win over” weren’t as savage and brutal as the System claimed.
They embodied mystery, stubbornness, brutality, and darkness... They were beings no one in their small worlds could defeat.
Yet, strangely, they all seemed alike around Ke Luo. The powerful duke would show weakness, the brutal hunter would quiet down, and the ferocious mutant would act cute...
Rather than rip this seemingly weak human apart or eat him, they wanted more of his attention... They didn’t mind being treated as tools for clearing the game...
Blood Manor / Strange School / Extreme Apocalypse / Horror Variety Show...
P.S. The relationship is 1v1, with no pairing swaps, role reversals, or other complications. The love interest is the same person throughout! I can’t spoil any more, but don’t assume he hasn’t appeared yet
(A story written for my personal tastes. My brain has been thrown into outer space. My elementary school Chinese was bad, and it’s still bad as an adult. Work has wrung me dry, so I write whatever I dream about~~~)
