Why Has the Real Young Master Gone to Weiyang Street Again?

Tao Songshu, a wealthy young master, is indifferent by nature, starved of affection and short on money.

His biological parents ignored him for the sake of the impostor they had mistaken for their son for several months. Even his cousin, who had been close to him since childhood, forgot his birthday... His husband in name only doesn't seem to like him either.

Tao Songshu feels that nothing matters. He starts letting himself go.

A date? He pretends not to hear. The fake young master and his parents are having a get-together on his birthday? What does he care? When a friend invites him out, he happily agrees!

Yue Jin has a marriage engagement with the Tao family. Since he can't fight it, he'll accept it. He doesn't care much either way; it's just a business alliance.

But then he discovers that the Tao family seems to have suddenly acquired two young masters. Yue Jin hadn't cared before, but now he finds his heart turning toward the other Tao Songshu, the one who barely speaks.

Tao Songshu has made a new friend, and he seems to really like this new friend.

Yue Jin holds back and stays patient, asking the Tao family and the grandfather who arranged the engagement. At last, he confirms that Tao Songshu is his future partner.

He relaxes. He only tells his assistant to keep an eye on things, then devotes himself to work. Tao Songshu likes partners who work hard.

Then his assistant tells him that Tao Songshu went to Weiyang Street with someone else.

Yue Jin: "What are they going there for?"

Assistant: "I hear they're very close."

Yue Jin: "The meeting is about to start. There's no need to tell me about trivial things like this."

Assistant: "The marriage registration office is on Weiyang Street."

Yue Jin picks up the suit jacket he'd taken off and strides out of the office. "What are you waiting for? Get the car ready. Postpone the meeting. I'm going to Weiyang Street for lunch."

Assistant: It's already afternoon, boss...

P.S. Same-sex marriage is legal in this setting.

I'm writing a male lead who seems hilariously cold and aloof. I've had this premise sitting in my notes for ages, so I should finally get it out there. Otherwise, having only myself bookmark a story I started on a whim would be really awkward (︶︿︶)

Synopsis written on October 31, 2024, with a screenshot saved as proof.

I'll probably write this one next year. I still have three short stories waiting in the wings, and I'll likely write more quick transmigration. I should get around to this one around the New Year, more or less (maybe.)

Theme: Affection drifts away with the wind, but love endures.
