The Virtuous Consort's Laid-Back Days

In her previous life, Consort De schemed at every turn for the sake of the Fourteenth Prince, only for Yinzhen to ascend the throne.

Mother and son became enemies, brothers turned against each other, and she was never able to forgive Yinzhen before she died.

After her death, she watched Yinzhen work himself to death and the Fourteenth Prince die of illness. Only then did she suddenly understand.

Why had she exhausted herself maneuvering on the Fourteenth Prince's behalf? Why had she hated Yinzhen so much?

They were both her sons. Whichever one became emperor, wouldn't she be the Empress Dowager either way?

Why had she struggled against heaven and earth and everyone else, making herself so miserable?

Consort De suddenly saw the light. She decided to let go and let her eldest son look after his younger brother, while she enjoyed a leisurely life.

No childcare, no power struggles, no scheming: just a carefree, unrestrained life.

Who knew things would take such a turn? The emperor kept coming to have tea with her, the palace consorts came by to chat, and even her sons' brothers came to her to complain.

She had only wanted to lie flat and live in peace, but ended up the biggest winner of all.
