My Life

Lin Leqian, a left-behind child who lives in the countryside with her grandparents, received the very, very, very best gift on her seventh birthday!

She could live with Mom and Dad in the big city!

Lin Leqian's parents are both factory workers. To give their daughter a better life, they left their hometown and went to work in Jishi, the prosperous provincial capital. After years of hard work, they finally bought a home and established themselves in the city. They also transferred Lin Leqian's school and household registration here. This September, she will be able to transfer to Jishi No. 1 Primary School and become a proud second-grader!

However, after arriving in the big city, Lin Leqian encounters a series of problems in her daily life. Having moved from the countryside to a gleaming provincial capital full of towering buildings, she becomes even more insecure, already having grown somewhat withdrawn from a lack of affection. Making friends and fitting in with her unfamiliar classmates is another challenge. At home, she has to figure out how to get along with parents she only saw during holidays and festivals, and who now feel like strangers. That is another worry...

From age seven to twelve, from second grade to sixth, Lin Leqian gradually grows through her experiences. The girl who was once insecure, introverted, and shy slowly becomes a sunny, cheerful, optimistic, and confident young person!
