The Cat Who Lives Under the Covers

The bottom and the top grew up together. They were so close they could share a pair of pants, eat from the same popsicle, sleep in the same bed, and even use the same pillow.

They spent many years like that, growing from little kids into teenagers.

Then one day during puberty, the top suddenly said they should sleep separately.

Nobody understood.

Their mothers thought the boys had fought and tried all sorts of ways to get them to make up.

But the top stood firm: I don't want to sleep with him anymore.

The bottom was a little angry, but still said, "All right."

Even after they started sleeping separately, the top continued to look after the bottom as always. They still ate from the same popsicle, let the bottom climb into his wardrobe when he had nothing to wear, and gave him half his scarf when it was cold.

So the bottom figured the top must have fallen for someone, and that was why they shouldn't sleep together anymore.

As the years passed, their families stopped bringing up how the boys used to insist on sleeping together as children. They assumed the boys had simply been having a very long spat.

Until the bottom went to college and the top started working.

One night, their mothers came home late from a trip together and heard voices from the bedroom. It was the two boys talking.

Overjoyed, they laughed through the door. "Hey, you two finally made up?"

Inside the bedroom, the bottom was bright red, bracing a hand against the top's shoulder like a cat with its fur standing on end. He hissed, "I told you Mom was coming home today. Could you please stop fooling around?"

The top let the bottom scratch red marks all over him, ignoring him as he pinned his large hand to the slender waist that kept pressing against him and leaned in close to his ear, feigning innocence. "But, Student X, aren't you the one who can't help inviting me?"

One-on-one, both virgins, happy ending, childhood friends, the top is one year older

1. The blurb is tentative. I haven't figured out the content warnings. Everything may change before I start writing, except that the top is older and they grew up together.

2. To be added.

Theme: Let's grow up together.
