Brave Hero, Will You Draw the Holy Sword?

[A short story, updated every other day, main story complete]

Fifteen years ago, a seventeen-year-old hero met the newly formed spirit of a sacred sword.

One was a hot-blooded stubborn sort, the other a haughty and willful spirit.

Neither would back down, and they missed their chance with each other.

Fifteen years later, the thirty-two-year-old hero climbed Sacred Sword Mountain again and saw the sword spirit, still looking fifteen.

He was mature and steady. She was as haughty as she had been when they first met, though now she was a little more naive and lonely.

They still got along as they had before, but it was no longer like their first meeting.

Later, the hero built a small wooden cabin halfway up the mountain, and the sword spirit never came down again.

"I left a mark on your life as a friend. I'll leave the rest to the treasured sword that went through life and death with me, and to the heroes who come after."
