Ayles is a paladin whose professional reputation swings between rave reviews, mixed opinions, and scathing criticism. It all depends on whether the people he rescues know who he is.
If they do, they scream in terror and sometimes even curse at him.
If they don't, he's just an ordinary high-ranking paladin: a handsome dragon with a kind heart, and he earns plenty of praise.
An outcast among his own kind, he fought his father god for freedom with his life, only to leave this world in another campaign to purge evil.
The good news: He didn't die. He merely crossed the barrier between worlds.
The bad news: He might as well have died. In this new world, he has to learn another language and understand the culture of this new plane.
And that's not all. As soon as he arrives, he finds a half-dead child just like he once was.
The good news: The child can be saved!
The bad news: It'll take a lot of healing, and he only has a limited number of healing spells each day.
Even worse, two brothers passing by mistake him for a pervert while he's treating the child.
The better news: They're good people, and they become friends!
Sadly, before they've been friends for long, he crosses into another world again, this time bringing along the boy he saved.
But that's all right. Wherever he goes, he'll keep to his oath to purge evil and heal the wounded.
And so, in both worlds, people encounter a new vigilante: wrapped from head to toe in a black cloak, wielding a greatsword taller than a person and a half.
The new vigilante is either beating up bad guys or helping the poor and needy.
The good news is, though he's fierce, he usually gives people a chance.
The bad news is, if they're serious criminals or offend again, he'll chase them down and beat them up. No one can outrun him.
The gloomy, black-clad one is sad, irritable, and very busy.
He's really wary of this stranger who suddenly appeared and calls himself Ayles, but he's also grateful to him. The piece that had been carved out of his heart has finally been filled again.
.
Jason: You've already blown your cover. There's no need to keep changing species on a schedule.
Ayles: (explaining)
Jason: You're just fooling yourself.
Ayles: But they really are trying to guess what species I am.
Jason: ...Why would you believe anything people say on superhero forums? They even speculate that Old Bat is a Kryptonian.
1. The protagonist isn't human, let alone an Earth native. He's a Baldur's Gate 3 native who transmigrates, with my own take on the setting.
2. The feelings are mutual, and the romance develops naturally.
3. All game-related terminology has been adjusted to make sure everyone can understand it.
Some OOC is inevitable. If anything feels too out of character, feel free to point it out. I'll check and revise it.
Hope you enjoy the story~
