Dusky Rose

[Wild Grass x Rose]

On a stormy night, Huang Zhaodi, soaked to the skin, knocked on that door.

Behind it was the woman who had supported her for eight years, Huang Mei.

When they first met, Huang Mei was the moon from the city, while she was wild grass crawling through the mud.

Now she had scored among the top hundred in the province on the college entrance exam, but she clutched a stolen household registration booklet, like a homeless wolf cub:

"Sis, I have nowhere to go."

Huang Mei took her in and helped her change her name to Huang Gui.

She taught her to stand up straight and taught her how to live like a person.

But she didn't know that every night, Huang Gui silently repeated her name,

like a devout believer.

Huang Mei had lived her life by the book for twenty-nine years.

A respectable family, a respectable job, a respectable blind date.

She thought she would marry and have children respectably, until...

The "younger sister" she'd picked up that rainy night

kissed her while drunk.

Huang Gui fled overseas and worked frantically to study and earn money.

She thought Huang Mei would live forever by the standard answers:

marry, have children, and be a respectable Ms. Huang.

Until one evening, she walked off the stage clutching her doctoral dissertation

and saw a woman standing outside the auditorium.

Short hair, jeans, a bouquet of blooming yellow roses in her arms.

She smiled as if she'd never been tamed.

"This time, I'm the one who came to find you."
