The year Ji Xinglu turned twenty-two, a fiancé suddenly appeared in his life: Sheng Fan.
He couldn't stand the man.
First, Sheng Fan was an old man. He was already twenty-eight, practically thirty. Getting together with him would be like an old bull eating young grass.
Second, Sheng Fan was a freak! Otherwise, Ji Xinglu couldn't explain why, whenever the man got angry, he chased after him to spank his butt, calling it “discipline.” Even his own father had never spanked him like that!
Third, and this was the thing, Ji Xinglu already had someone he liked! His childhood friend, the older boy he'd grown up with. His childhood friend was gentle and considerate in his eyes. How could this fiancé who'd suddenly appeared possibly compare?
So Ji Xinglu rejected the engagement on the spot, saying he didn't like leftovers, or, no, Sheng Fan, one bit! If nobody else wanted an old man, neither did he!
Humiliated in public, Sheng Fan didn't get angry. He just teased him, “It's normal that you have no taste, isn't it? You're a little blind guy, after all.”
That gave Ji Xinglu one more reason to hate Sheng Fan: he couldn't stand anyone bringing up his eyes!
To break off the engagement and end up with his childhood friend, Ji Xinglu pulled out all the stops.
His fiancé was busy with work? He'd make a scene! He'd message him nonstop, twenty-four hours a day, and show him what hot-blooded harassment looked like!
Sheng Fan: You're so clingy, baby. Since you miss me this much, how about I come home early and keep you company?
Ji Xinglu: I'll have to politely decline.
His fiancé cared about his reputation? He'd strike back! Every day, he'd post photos of designer brands to show off his extravagant married life. He meant to mock his fiancé's lavish spending, but everyone in his social feed responded with the same thing:
[Whoa, you've got such a good husband! I'm jealous!]
Ji Xinglu: Oh, get lost, all of you!
Once, Ji Xinglu even sabotaged one of Sheng Fan's projects, deliberately making it fall through and costing him a full hundred million.
He thought this time he'd finally be able to end the engagement without a hitch. Instead, Sheng Fan crooked a finger at him, patted his thigh, and ordered:
“Sit on my lap.”
Ji Xinglu had no choice but to obey. The moment he sat down, the old man pinched his butt, making him shiver.
Sheng Fan: “It's been a few days since I spanked you. Are you asking for another one? How many do you want tonight? Should you count them yourself?”
Ji Xinglu was close to tears. “I just want a divorce…”
Sheng Fan hadn't been angry before, but those words made him spank Ji Xinglu's butt until it was red all over.
Sheng Fan had transmigrated into a book, with a System and the plot in hand. He saw through every trope, except that the cannon-fodder character who seemed both nasty and stupid became an unexpected variable.
In his eyes, Ji Xinglu was no threat at all: brainless and spineless, good for nothing but making a mess. Every venture he touched was doomed to fail. He was remarkably stupid.
But at certain times, he was pretty cute.
Like when he got mad and drew a whole stack of comic strips, taking out his complaints about Sheng Fan's tyranny and cruelty on the little characters.
Like his indispensable good-morning and good-night messages. Sometimes they were just a sentence, sometimes a kiss. He was obviously up to no good, but Sheng Fan enjoyed it.
And like the way he always said he didn't love him, yet after his vision deteriorated completely, he was too afraid of the dark to sleep all night and could only hope Sheng Fan would come.
In the darkness, Sheng Fan watched his clumsy, foolish lover clutching a plush toy, his eyes blank and unfocused. When he heard footsteps, a faint glimmer lit them.
“Sh-Sheng Fan?”
Afraid Sheng Fan might really abandon him, Ji Xinglu's voice was already breaking with tears.
“I'm here.”
Thank goodness he was always here.
1. The Gong and Shou are each other's only partners. Older-top, nurturing romance.
Neither lead is perfect. They go from arrogance and prejudice to saving each other.
2. No secondary couples; everything is for the main couple.
The Shou's eyesight will be healed. There are some angsty parts in the middle and later sections, but overall it's very sweet.
3. The characters in my stories are one of a kind. Please don't ask for substitutes or accuse me of “borrowing” from other works. And please don't try to cover it up while leaving obvious clues. Thanks.

The Straight-Ace Dragon-Protagonist Picks Up an Omega Wife
Wife-loving straight-ace Dragon-Protagonist × pretty, devoted husband. Marriage before love / turning a straight man gay / rented-apartment romance. If you like it, please add it to your collection!
After dying suddenly, Xiao Buran transmigrated into a novel as a nameless cannon-fodder character.
The good news: Xiao Buran had a System. It told him he was following a Dragon-Protagonist storyline and would one day reach the pinnacle of life and have everything.
The bad news: He'd been born in a rundown rental apartment, in a family so poor they could barely scrape by.
The good news: The shabby apartment came with a pretty, sweet wife named Wen Li, who was soft and fragrant, and some kind of top-grade Omega.
But could someone explain why his wife was a man?!
Xiao Buran: I'm a steel-hearted straight man!
System: I'm not so sure!
Wen Li had been a pampered young master, but Xiao Buran tricked him into eloping, and he thought he'd found happiness.
But then the family fell on hard times, and Xiao Buran showed his true colors. Resenting Wen Li for being unable to advance his career, he left him to fend for himself.
So when Wen Li went into heat, he could only curl up in a corner and try to endure his discomfort. He had no money to buy suppressants, and every time his heat came, he had to grit his teeth and bear it through sheer willpower.
With his mind growing hazy, Xiao Buran came back and approached him step by step. Wen Li curled into a ball, unable to stop his tears from falling.
“I'm sorry. I know my pheromones smell awful. I'll go sleep outside tonight…”
Instead, the man lifted a hand and wiped away the tears at the corner of his eye.
“You look like you're suffering.”
Xiao Buran asked softly, “Would you like me to help?”
From then on, Wen Li noticed that Xiao Buran seemed to have become a different person.
He used to treat Wen Li coldly. Now, every day after earning money, he handed his wages over to him and said, “Take this and buy yourself something good to eat. Don't be stingy. You had a hard life when you were with me before. Now I need to fatten you up again.”
He used to sneer at him and say he was useless. Now the first thing he did when he got home from work was hug Wen Li and nuzzle against him for ages, then sigh, “Sweetheart, I'm so lucky to have you.”
Xiao Buran used to hate children, but the day he found out Wen Li was pregnant, he picked him up and spun him around again and again.
And as for the troublesome heats, Xiao Buran still wouldn't let Wen Li use suppressants, but he'd personally take care of him.
At first, Wen Li thought it felt good. Later, he realized… it felt a little too good.
Later, when Xiao Buran built himself up from nothing, Wen Li was still by his side.
Xiao Buran gave him a more comfortable life, shielded him from gossip, and gave him a happy, free life.
But Wen Li could never figure out one thing: how had Xiao Buran suddenly come to love him?
Until one day, Wen Li overheard Xiao Buran talking with someone else.
“Why wouldn't I treat him well? I transmigrated into a book and got a gorgeous wife for free. Only an idiot would turn that down!”
It turned out that his husband had been replaced by someone else inside long ago.
