Clear Skies

[Fragile student and older mechanic, age gap, contrasting personalities, lighthearted daily life, short story]

Bian Yun escaped his family and moved into a young professionals' apartment building. After months of continuous rain, one rare sunny day came along, and he carried a pile of clothes that wouldn't dry up to the rooftop.

There was a man up there. Bian Yun had seen him twice before. The first time, he'd watched him beat up a man from the window. The second time, the man had been eating barbecue skewers on the rooftop.

Ji Xu waved to Bian Yun. "Hey, wanna come over and grill some skewers with me?"

A sunny day came to Yunchuan County, the best weather Bian Yun had ever seen. It seemed like the rain stopped falling after they met.

Bian Yun and Ji Xu sat on the rooftop. They fell in love, gazing into the distance and looking toward the future.
