Bad Student

On the first day at his new school, Shen Rang ran into Xu Huang, the most notorious student at Tongnan No. 1 High School.

He skipped class by climbing over the wall and started fights. In his teachers' eyes, he was a hopeless delinquent.

Everyone said Xu Huang hated good students,

but he showed Shen Rang a level of patience he'd never shown anyone before.

He was the one who took the blame for Shen Rang.

He was the one who drove Shen Rang home every night.

He was the one who said he would study hard for Shen Rang.

Shen Rang couldn't understand why this seemingly unruly boy was gentle only with him.

On the night of the graduation party, Xu Huang asked Shen Rang,

"Why have you never asked why I'm only different with you?"

He slipped Shen Rang a note, then turned and walked away before Shen Rang could answer.

Shen Rang opened it.

[Because on that rainy day three years ago, you were the only one who offered me your umbrella.]

Memories came rushing back.

In the pouring rain stood a boy, soaked to the skin, his gaze stubborn.

So they'd known each other all along.

In that torrential rain no one else knew about.

Shen Rang ran after him. Amid the crowds on campus, he found Xu Huang.

"You don't have to get rained on alone anymore."

"Okay."

Their fingers intertwined.

At last, their little boat, tossed by the waves, found its harbor.

They met in the rain, and would walk side by side beneath clear skies.
