Synopsis draft saved on September 30, 2025.
About how I'm a reporter in Gotham but always want to kick my editor to the curb.
About how my childhood friend interviews Superman in Metropolis and keeps winning awards.
About how I want to report on Gotham's local vigilantes, but Wayne keeps shutting me down.
Josie Hunter,
former sunny Metropolis kid,
now a gloomy Gotham office drone,
working hard as a junior reporter at the Gotham Gazette.
Josie and Clark grew up together, and they're colleagues, too.
Clark's everyday life in Metropolis: interviewing Superman, winning a Pulitzer, and staying cheerful and optimistic.
Josie's everyday life in Gotham: having story pitches rejected by her editor, failing to write articles, and crawling around in the gloom.
After reading yet another one of Clark's brilliant articles, Josie resentfully turned off her phone.
Fine, fine. It's not like our city doesn't have a superhero of its own!
I'm going to land that Batman interview!
She wanted to write a column about Gotham's vigilantes, but her editor rejected the idea outright.
The reason: Mr. Wayne, the investor, didn't like it.
Didn't. Like. It!
Josie: Got it. Bruce Wayne is a Batman hater.
Watching Clark's numbers hit another new high, Josie flew into a rage and decided to use her connections.
She found Commissioner Gordon. "Next time Gotham's about to go under, could you shine the Bat-Signal and call me?"
Gordon: "What are you going to do?"
Josie: "Hand Batman my business card."
Gordon: "?"
A few everyday details.
1. Josie and Clark went to the same elementary school, but later her whole family moved to Gotham. As an adult, Josie saw how sunny and cheerful Clark still was, while she was crawling around in Gotham's gloom. She was furious and decided Gotham's feng shui must be biting people.
2. As colleagues, Josie and Clark both had to attend a journalist master class because their editors made them. They spent the class slacking off together.
3. Josie and Clark are also rivals to some extent. One time, she saw an article by Clark on the front page and got angry: "How can Clark write this well?"
4. She's jealous that Clark gets to interview Superman every day, and even wonders if he's Superman's dedicated reporter. Inspired by him, she goes looking for Batman. Batman refuses the interview and confiscates her voice recorder.
5. To be continued.
The female lead is an ordinary person, but she has a strange immunity to all kinds of unfortunate events in Gotham.
The female lead and Clark Kent are childhood friends.
Neither Clark nor Bruce will reveal their secret identities early on.
Probably no pairing, though Clark might become the love interest. I'll see how it goes.
The synopsis is rough and still being polished. I haven't worked out the detailed outline yet.
As usual, a lighthearted, slice-of-life story.
Some of the journalism knowledge and details come from online sources, and some from reference books.
Robin will appear, but since Superman and Batman are young in this setting, it might be Dick as Robin.
Theme: The world belongs to the brave.
