[The most precise assassin never carries a knife]
"May we live for a thousand autumns and ten thousand years. May we be ground to dust. May our souls scatter after death. May we never be reincarnated, for all eternity."

Wan Sheng was a silent shadow behind Xu Shui, a patch of moss growing unseen, stubbornly spreading in a neglected corner for years.
Xu Shui never kissed Wan Sheng on the lips. He only pinned him against the headboard, keeping even his breath at a distance, without a single unnecessary word.
This time, when it was over, Xu Shui did not get up at once, as he usually did. Instead, he turned Wan Sheng's face toward him and stared.
"Why do you never close your eyes?"
Wan Sheng's gaze rested on the pulse at Xu Shui's neck. His final task was to make that heartbeat fall silent forever.
"I'm feeling how deeply my master presses each time."
Xu Shui smiled at that, and for the first time, a living warmth appeared in his eyes.
The next instant, however, his hand clamped around Wan Sheng's throat and tightened abruptly.
Wan Sheng did not know when he had been exposed. He struggled violently, yet against his instincts, he did not try to strike back.
After a brief standoff, Xu Shui let go and watched the corners of Wan Sheng's eyes redden from lack of air.
"Didn't anyone teach you? Hesitate and you die."
For a moment, Wan Sheng felt like he was about to cough up his insides. Xu Shui got up and put on his robe.
"Get up and have something to eat with me."

Simply put, this is a story about two "hopeless romantics" mired in the mud, entangling, struggling, sinking, and saving each other.
[Top] Xu Shui, the head of Qianmeng Manor. Cold and aloof, he has countless enemies coming for him with knives, including Wan Sheng.
He sees through the filth of the world and the fickleness of human nature. He instinctively scrutinizes and distrusts everything. He despises the world, and himself as well. He maintains absolute control in isolation, yet silently allows everything to collapse.
[Bottom] Wan Sheng, a numb blade from an assassins' camp. Silent and precise, he disguises himself as a timid, devoted dog and sets his sights on the toughest target in the circle.
His loyalty is a grand performance and a trap. He is an executioner about to carry out a sentence, numbly killing while adopting the most obedient, submissive pose.
[A weary gang boss top] & [A disguised loyal-dog assassin bottom]
Silent indulgence x clear-eyed surrender x conflicted struggle

Wan Sheng: If I kill you with my own hands, would you still be willing to be my master in our next life?
Xu Shui: If you can't kill me with your own hands, would you be willing to flee with me for the rest of our lives?
"He taught me where the flaw in his swordsmanship was, but all I remembered was his eyes."
Haha, here's a cliche line: In our line of work, falling for your target is the one thing you must never do.
o(≧v≦)o
Theme: Fall in love with him, and execute me.
